Manual Therapy

At CPSIC, we take a hands-on approach to treatment that improves joint range of motion and flexibility, relaxes tight muscles, and improves circulation to injured tissue to enhance healing.

Spinal & Peripheral Joint Mobilization

At CPSIC, our physiotherapists may use various manual therapy techniques during your treatment to assist with your recovery. Joint mobilization is a form of manual therapy whose intention is to increase the mobility of a joint. It can improve range of motion, reduce pain, and to help with things such as lifting your arm, bending your spine, or walking. Who is it suited for? Any person with joint stiffness or pain can benefit from joint mobilization.

Soft Tissue Treatment Techniques/Myofascial Release

Soft tissue mobilization is a another form of manual physical therapy in which hands-on techniques are used on your muscles, ligaments and fascia in order to break adhesions and optimize your muscle function.

Acute Injury Management / Pain Control

Our physiotherapists at CPSIC can help with faster recovery of acute injuries shortly after they occur. They can also help with pain management of more chronic conditions. Examples of some of the conditions that we can help with are: neck, mid and low back pain, disc injuries, sciatica, osteoarthritis, ligament sprains and tears, muscles strains, tendinopathy’s (Rotator cuff, Achilles,Golfers/Tennis Elbow), Carpal tunnel syndrome, Plantar fasciitis and many more.

Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ) Assessment & Treatment

TMJ examination includes assessment of the patient’s posture, palpation of the TMJ to assess for swelling, muscle spasm and stiffness or hypermobility; assessment of range and quality of movement of the jaw and neck assessment of the patient’s bite.

Treatment is aimed at relieving pain, swelling and muscle spasm; then jaw movement and alignment. Treatment may include soft tissue releases to affected muscles and joint mobilisation techniques. It is also important to treat any associated neck pain and headaches. Posture correction and exercises to improve coordination, stability and alignment of the jaw.
